Sicily

Italians have heart

From La Repubblica. A peasant farmer whose own home and farm is off the grid, set up a solar panel for the immigrants who are sleeping on the rocks at Ventimiglia, the border between Mentone, France and Italy, where they have been stopped in their tracks. France will not let them enter. This farmer, Pasquale, who does not use the services of ENEL, the state electric company, at home, had the kind notion to set up this solar panel so the homeless immigrants can recharge their cell phones to stay in touch with their families back home, or to listen to a little music or see the news on their smart phones. The immigrants waited in line to charge their phones.
